Portugal Exports Nearly €1 Billion Worth of Products to China
During the first six months of 2019, Portugal exported €998 million worth of products to China, 4.2% more when compared to the same period in 2018.
According to the official data published on the Macau Forum website, based on statistics from the Chinese Customs Service, trade between Lisbon and Beijing amounted to €2.924 billion until last June, corresponding to an increase of 15.66% when compared to the same period last year.
Imports of Chinese products increased 22.66% as well, when we compare to the same period of 2018. Portugal imported goods from China worth approximately €1.926 billion, with Lisbon having a negative trade balance with the Asian country of around €920 million.
Data from the Chinese Customs Service indicates that trade between China and Lusophone countries stood at €62.6 billion over the first half of the year, with a growth of 1.17%.
Imports from China account for most of this figure: €45 billion, an increase of 4.34% over the same period of 2018. In turn, Chinese exports to Portuguese-speaking countries fell by 6.13% to €17.58 billion.
